Hidden Styles

Born in London, England, Jack Tanner explores the intersection of form, color, and spatial perception through his distinctive two- and three-dimensional wall sculptures.

Blending sculptural depth with painterly abstraction, his works challenge the boundary between object and illusion.

Tanner’s art is grounded in mathematical harmony and crafted entirely by hand - each piece an elegant balance of precision, intuition, and physical engagement.

The Mathematics of Form

Craft, Process, and Innovation

A graduate with First Class Honours from Wimbledon College of Art (2012), Tanner emphasizes process over technology, choosing traditional craftsmanship to guide his creative journey. Influenced by his father, a skilled carpenter, he developed a deep respect for materials and manual skill.

Through drawing, carving, and layering, Tanner builds rhythm and structure, transforming wood, pigment, and form into meditative compositions that explore movement, geometry, and human perception.

Between Dimensions

Tanner’s works exist in a space between painting and sculpture, inviting viewers to explore shifting perspectives as they move around them. Each angle reveals new relationships of color, shadow, and light-dynamic interactions that evolve with the viewer’s position.

Collected internationally, his practice celebrates the timeless dialogue between craftsmanship and conceptual thought, reminding us that innovation often begins with the simplicity of touch and the discipline of making.

“Mathematics gives my work structure; intuition gives it life.”
